2WayMirror (stylized in all caps) is the debut extended play by American singer-songwriter Gabbie Hanna. It was released independently on May 31, 2019.
Background[]
Hanna wrote the EP about her ex-boyfriend, Spencer Sharp, who can be heard speaking on four of the seven voice memos included on it and later went on to direct the music video for "Pillowcase".[1]
The project initially began as a single titled "Butterflies" before Hanna eventually came up with the idea of an EP.[2] The first song written and recorded for 2WayMirror was "Broken Girls" in December 2018.[1][3]
On May 4, 2019, Hanna posted two potential album artworks for the EP on her Instagram and asked her fans to vote for which one they liked better.[4]
Singles and music videos[]
Although only two tracks on 2WayMirror were released as singles, all six songs received music videos.
- "Medicate" was released as the EP's lead single on February 1, 2019 with its music video coming out the following day.
- "Butterflies" was released alongside the EP on May 31, 2019 as its second and final single, its music video releasing the same day..
- "Perfect Day (A True Story)" received a music video that was released on June 7, 2019. The first three music videos for the EP were all directed by Ryan Parma.
- "Pillowcase" was accompanied by its music video on August 17, 2019, directed by the EP's muse, Spencer Sharp.
- "Broken Girls" was originally thought to be the EP's last music video, it releasing on November 16, 2019 and directed by Nayip Ramos.
- "Goodbye, For Now" didn't receive video treatment until ten months later when Hanna released a self-directed vertical music video for the song on September 3, 2020 so that she could upload it to her TikTok account to help complete her layout.
